Facility Wide Expectations: Be Safe! Be Kind! Be Responsible!

Infant/Toddler Classrooms

Our first priority during these early years of life is to ensure your child/ren are safe and comfortable in their learning environment. Not only do we want to provide the foundation for their educational career but also a nurturing and compassionate environment. When our infants and toddlers arrive each morning they are so excited to see their teachers to start another fun day of learning and active engagement! This provides our parents with some comfort and ease, knowing their children are loved and cared for each day.

Our infant and toddler classrooms all implement the Kaplan Learn Every Day Curriculum for Infants/Toddlers which is approved by The Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL).  This includes “Brain Builders” activities for developing cognitive skills, “Talk to Me” for communication and language skills, “Talk! Read! Listen!” for language and early literacy development, and “All Things Creative!” for open-ended art, music, and movement exploration.

The infant/toddler Kaplan Learn Every Day curriculum also incorporates sensory development, gross and fine motor skills, social skills, and exploration of the natural world. In addition, our teachers have  6 themes to utilize when planning lessons for their classroom, which include:  Colors All Around Us, Farm Animals, Numbers Everywhere, Shapes Big and Small, Taking Care of My Green Earth, and Wild Animals.

Originators

Ages 6 weeks-12 months

This is where it all begins! In our infant classroom, your infant will have his/her first exposure to an array of social-emotional development opportunities as well as exploratory activities. Some of these activities include tummy time, music and movement, crafts, story time, socialization, meals and snacks.

Your infant’s teachers will be engaged with your child daily, as babies develop critical fine and gross motor skills during their first year of life. Your babies will be rolling over, sitting up, crawling, practicing feeding skills, and eventually walking!

We also work on language skills in our baby room, such as saying “mama” and “dada”, imitating sounds and words, responding to simple verbal requests and even waving “bye”.

Social emotional skills will also begin to develop as your baby will begin to pretend, explore, and connect objects to their names. You will also see emotions occurring when your infant responds to his/her environment and the changes within it, for example, when mom or dad leave at drop off in the morning or when they are craving attention. Your classroom teacher will post lesson plans in her classroom as well as a monthly calendar for you to follow. She will also post daily on Class DoJo so you can follow the daily happenings in our infant classroom!

Explorers

Ages 12 months - 24 months

This is where exploration takes flight! Once your child is walking and steady on their feet, they will transition to our Explorers Classroom, where exploration has become consistent and your child is growing their interests with a variety of fine and gross motor activities.

While your child is an Explorer, he/she will participate in outdoor gross motor activities each day, structured games, as well as free play. The Explorers also participate in sensory play, begin a short morning meeting, music and movement, crafts, small group activities, simple sign language, and an introduction to shapes and colors. Your child’s teacher will also have lesson plans posted as well as a monthly calendar so you always know the fun activities your child is doing! She will also post daily on Class Dojo so you can follow the daily happenings of the classroom!

Navigators

Ages 24 months - 36 months

These kiddos are navigating their way to preschool! Developmentally, our two year old classroom is a big step for your little one, as they are preparing for a learning adventure that is bigger than anything thus far!

More structure is added into your older toddler’s day, as this class will meet each morning for a structured morning meeting, they will learn to interact in small and large groups, socialize and learn through play, and begin to create masterpieces of their own. Your child’s teacher will be introducing the ABCs and 123s and creating social-emotional and academic individualized goals for your child. This classroom also focuses on potty training and practicing self-help skills to prepare them for preschool.

Your child’s teacher will also have lesson plans posted as well as a monthly calendar so you always know the fun activities your child is doing! She will also post daily on Class Dojo so you can follow the daily happenings of the classroom!
